These recent months, weeks, and days have brought about a new need for reflection. We’ve been forced to ask ourselves difficult questions about who we are, what we value and what we individually and collectively can do more of to better ourselves and our communities. I have always recognized the shared beauty that comes from connecting and listening to artists of diverse backgrounds while also striving to amplify female musicians. With that being said, there is no doubt in my mind that my musical taste wouldn’t be where it is today if it weren’t for black and female musicians in my life.
